“Lets Make the rest of your life the best of your life!”
Who we are
Maila E. Wilson, LMFT Psychotherapist
I’m Maila E. Wilson, an LMFT with a Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling Psychology, and I have been practicing psychotherapy in California for over a decade. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals, couples, families, and children from many diverse communities. I’ve also gained valuable experience in detox, residential, and intensive outpatient settings, which has helped me grow and refine my therapeutic skills.
I specialize in many areas including crisis intervention, depression, anxiety, self-harm, PTSD, autism spectrum disorders, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, personality disorders, grief, anger, and self-esteem issues. I also have a strong dedication to supporting active duty military members, their dependents, and first responders by providing trauma-informed and culturally sensitive care tailored to their unique needs.
My primary approach to therapy is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I believe in meeting each client where they are and collaborating to create treatment plans that feel comfortable and motivating. I strive to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where trust can be built and healing can take place. Therapy isn’t always easy, but with commitment and support, it’s absolutely worth it.
“Above all, my goal is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can feel empowered and supported on their journey toward positive change. While therapy can be challenging at times, I am here to guide and walk alongside you, offering empathy and compassion every step of the way.”

Sarah Hecox
Practice Manager
"As the practice manager for Empathic Pathways Psychology Inc, my job is to keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes. I handle scheduling, manage patient records, and take care of billing. I help maintain a welcoming environment for patients, manage day-to-day logistics, and ensure we stay in compliance with all regulations. My goal is to make sure the clinicians can focus on their work with patients, while I take care of the operational side of things—so the practice is both efficient and supportive for everyone involved."

I approach every client relationship with trust, respect, and unconditional positive regard. I aim to meet each person where they are, understanding their unique perspective, and providing a safe, non-judgmental space to explore challenges and process emotions. I offer guidance when helpful, but always honor the client’s pace and choices. My commitment to diversity shapes my practice, ensuring that everyone feels seen and supported as they work toward growth and self-discovery.
Over the duration of my career, I’ve had the privilege of supporting clients navigating grief, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, and identity-related challenges, including working with youth and those exploring gender fluidity. My experience also includes supporting individuals with substance use concerns, which has added to my understanding of complex, overlapping challenges. Across a variety of settings—from inpatient to outpatient care—my focus has always been on helping clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to build resilience and move forward in their own way.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors—hiking, running, and visiting the beach. I also love reading and taking in the little moments that bring balance and joy to life.
